Your invitation to the Sutton Neighbourhood Watch 2026 AGM
Dear Resident,
Notice is hereby given that the London Borough of Sutton Neighbourhood Watch 2026 AGM will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday 16 September 2026, in Room G1, Civic Offices, Sutton - refreshments from 6.30 p.m. Members are welcome to invite non-members who are interested in attending.
Membership growth and community involvement
Membership increased from 7,580 to 8,011 since the last AGM (an increase of 431) due to active participation in borough events, safety talks, our continuing transition into the national neighbourhood watch Alert communications system or Met Engage.
Our main priorities
Our main priorities this year have been succession planning, strengthening communications, and expanding outreach. We have been successful in identifying a suitable replacement for our Membership Secretary; and have been delighted to welcome new members to the committee, but we still carry several important vacancies. We are therefore keen to fill those vacancies (please see more information below), and ideally to identify a deputy in Wards to assist the standing Ward Coordinator. Our move to monthly newsletters has been well received; we have regular articles in local directories; and continue to encourage recruitment at events.
Partnerships and collaborations
Partnership working and collaboration has continued to develop through close links with Ward Panels, the police, Trading Standards, Community Action, CrimeStoppers, Sutton Vision, and nationwide Neighbourhood Watch networks. Engagement at local events and joint working with partner organisations has helped provide reassurance, share information, and support crime prevention messaging across the borough.
Funding and outreach remain key priorities
A Mayor’s Office grant of £1,900 in 2025/26 paid for a targeted engagement in lower-membership areas, particularly housing estates, to broaden participation and improve access to crime prevention information. A further £1,500 has been secured in this financial year to enhance our communication with members during our ongoing transition to “Alert”, a shared national communications system, which will ultimately be more cost effective. We have benefited from being recognised as a Co-op Community Cause and have explored the possibility of recognising Sutton High Street, and possibly other high streets going forward, as designated Neighbourhood Watch areas.
Met Engage
In moving to a different communications system, we have also continued to encourage member sign up to Met Engage, and this work will continue. We would encourage you to sign up to the Alert System and Met Engage, if you haven’t already done so, via please use this link: www.MetEngage.co.uk

We would like to thank all our members for continuing to be the eyes and ears of our communities and for bringing issues of concern to either their Ward Coordinators or the police. We intend to continue the good progress we have achieved, but we can only do so with your support. If you would like to work more closely with us, or be considered for one of our vacant roles, please get in touch or come along to the AGM on Wednesday 16 September, and speak to Jim or I, or one of the Committee members. We look forward to seeing you.
